For years, the former Bangor School site sat as a blighted, abandoned building in the heart of our community — a reminder of what once was, but also of what could be. Today, that site is being given new life. Thanks to this summer’s stretch of great weather, ground prep moved quickly, site work is well underway, and we’re proud to share that we’re ahead of schedule on this landmark project.
What was once a vacant, deteriorating property will soon become a place of stability and opportunity. By early 2027, the site will be transformed into North Bend Family Housing (Phase I) — a vibrant community of 105 affordable homes.
Here’s what Phase I will bring:
📍 Location: Former Bangor School site
🏘️ 105 affordable homes designed for families of all sizes
🔑 20 Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) units – serving households at 30% AMI and below
🎯 30 Project-Based Voucher (PBV) units – also serving households at 30% AMI and below
🏠 55 additional affordable units – serving households up to 60% AMI
🛏️ A mix of 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom homes
🌿 Shared amenities including a community room, garden beds, play areas, and green space
📸 The drone photo below captures current progress, shown alongside the “before” satellite image of the abandoned school site — a striking reminder of how far we’ve come.
This transformation wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of our partners. A special thank you to Oregon Housing and Community Services, LMC Construction, DCM Communities, and the many others helping us breathe new life into this site.
⚠️ Please note: Applications are not being accepted yet. Cascade Management, Inc. will lead the leasing process closer to project completion.
Together, we’re not just building housing — we’re turning blight into hope, vacancy into vitality, and an abandoned property into a place hundreds of families will proudly call home.
