We’re excited to share that construction is well underway on North Bend Family Housing – Phase I, marking a major milestone for our region.
Located on the site of the former Bangor School, this project will bring 105 new affordable homes to the community. Over the next two years, we’ll be transforming this long-vacant property into a vibrant, supportive neighborhood designed to meet the real needs of families, seniors, and individuals in our area.
This isn’t just about housing—it’s about creating a better future. The development includes a mix of 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units, ensuring a range of household types are welcomed. Twenty of the homes will be set aside for residents who need supportive services, with onsite resources helping them move from crisis to stability.
Designed with community in mind, the site will feature:
-
A community room and onsite management office
-
Raised garden beds, play areas, and outdoor gathering spaces
-
Bike racks, sidewalks, and shared amenities to encourage connection and safety
Construction will continue throughout 2025 and 2026, with occupancy expected in 2027. As we build, we’re not just constructing units—we’re creating new opportunities for our neighbors to thrive.
This project is a key part of a larger regional effort to strengthen the housing continuum on the South Coast. It reflects what’s possible when local and state partners work together with a shared vision: housing that’s affordable, stable, and centered on dignity.
Stay tuned for more updates as the work progresses—we can’t wait to welcome residents home in 2027.
